Low/Middle Income Countries (LMIC) Membership and Meeting Rates

Individuals living and working in countries designated by the World Bank as Low, Low-Middle, and Upper-Middle Income economies qualify for reduced INSAR membership and the INSAR Annual Meeting registration rates. Application fees are waived. To attend the INSAR Annual Meeting at these reduced rates, INSAR membership is required.

Global Senior Leaders

INSAR established the Global Senior Leaders Committee (GSL) in 2019. The main purpose of the committee is to create a global network of senior leaders in autism research that will support INSAR's value of representing and serving a diverse and global community.

Global Senior Leaders Map

The new Global Senior Leaders Map includes the current Regional Representatives and the National Representatives. GSL National Representatives serve as their Country’s point of contact for the INSAR Board about issues of national or international importance relating to autism research in their country.

Early Career Global Representatives

INSAR initiated an Early Career Committee (ECC) in 2017. The purpose of the ECC is to support early career INSAR members looking for resources, mentorship, and training to build their careers and facilitate networking among early career members. The ECC's Global Representative Initiative Pilot (GRIP) exists to expand and support involvement of early career researchers from diverse backgrounds and geographical locations.

Cultural Diversity Committee

The INSAR Cultural Diversity Committee was initially launched in 2010 by Tamara Daley and Marshalyn Yeargin-Allsopp in recognition of the need to foster awareness and support for cultural diversity at INSAR meetings.

Cultural Diversity Career Advancement Program (C-CAP)

The INSAR Cultural Diversity Career Advancement Program (C-CAP) aims to increase the amount of autism research from Low/Middle Income Countries (LMIC) and from underrepresented groups in High Income Countries (HIC). The initiative seeks to advance this goal through providing mentorship and ongoing training for researchers at all career levels – early career, mid-career, as well as those yet to fully launch research careers.

Regional Meetings

As a part of INSAR's Strategic Plan, to represent a diverse and global community, INSAR began co-hosting Regional INSAR Meetings in 2015. The INSAR Regional Meetings are held outside North America and Europe in locations where our members may be less able to attend INSAR annual meetings, and/or where local organizers are interested in building a stronger autism research community. INSAR Regional Meetings are held in partnership with local research, clinical, and stakeholder groups.
